British Designers Featured On Peggy's Yarns

Sorry its been so long for an update but I have been very busy making a new collection for my other business Peggy's Collection and busy with Peggy's Yarns too.  Anyway I am here now.  I have been dyeing some gorgeous yarns recently including some sparkle sock yarn which was snapped up straight away and made into a gorgeous pair of fingerless gloves.

I have also made some spooky halloween stitch markers, although I love them so much I would use them all year round.

Lots more dyeing was done including these yarns which reminded me of the rich autumn colours we are starting to see now.

I have also started to stock some British desginers on Peggy's Yarns.  The first featured is Madam Salami who has made these great sock knitting project bags and which are now sold out.  Have no fear though larger project bags are being made now to be stocked too. They are made to such a high standard I believe every knitter or crafter should have one of these! You can find more of her designs here and why dont you go ahead and like her facebook page

Another designer to be stocked is My Wonderful Little Designs who makes hand made quality cards.  She has designed some knitting related cards for birthdays or christmas.  These are perfect for your knitting friends as I always have problems getting knitting related cards on such occasions. You can find more of her great cards here
Her facebook page can be found here so please give her a like.

Summer Fun

Hi everyone it's been a scorching summer so far for most of us. Of course lots of knitting has taken place.

I have finished and started projects. Firstly I finished the pair of socks I showed you last time. I have cast on another pair for my uncle for Xmas.

I have also started the Peggy's Yarns KAL which is a beautiful pattern by Anniken Allis. I am making it in the candy cane colourway. I have some great gifts for the KAL too including some great stitch markers from Clare from the podcast StudentKnits from her etsy shop. She has some gorgeous items

I have also opened my own website for Peggy's yarns and I will do a separate blog showing you some of the new items but here is the link for it http://www.peggysyarns.co.uk

Happy knitting or crochet or spinning everyone!!

Guest Blog Post Susan with JJ

As you all know I spend a lot of time on twitter! I noticed one of the people I follow was crocheting blankets for a rescue centre for yorkies.  This intrigued me as it is a lovely thing to do and I asked her to do a guest blog post for me, so here it is

I had JJ 12 months ago last June he was 11 months old and had been handed into the Yorkie Rescue Centre in Lincoln. He is a full pedigree and his previous owner was in her 80's? She couldn't cope with a young robust puppy and he was given to the rescue centre to re-home.

The one is of the blankets I am doing, the lemon & white one is still not finished yet. Will finish this week. The picture with JJ on the blue and white blanket is his own finished one, which he has on the bed.

He was 2 years old last month. He is a drop dead gorgeous beautiful Yorkshire Terrier with plenty of attitude. He has forgotten his past life before I adopted him. He now walks well on the lead and isn't scared of the outside world anymore. I don't think he had been on a good walk until he came to us. He was petrified of bus's and large vehicles going past and would shake, he is absolutely fine now.
JJ and I go for long walks at least twice a day. The walks last from 45 minutes to an hour and he loves them. Where we live we have fantastic walking area's and are surrounded by woods and spinney's. We also have the jewel in the crown the Arrow Valley Lake which is about a mile and a half round, plus there are other lovely walks off it.
JJ does have a bit of attitude against other dogs coming near me. I had hoped to adopt a little girl Yorkie at some point but I need JJ to be better around other dogs. He is good if I walk with someone with another dog until the dog comes near me for a pat and a cuddle. JJ is still only young and once I retire from work completely, ( I do 2 days a week) I will be there all the time with him and hopefully a sister for him!
Please all take a look at the lovely JJ on youtube and give him a like or a comment JJ YouTube Video

Thank you so much to Susan for a great blog post showing her generous work using her crochet skills to help others

Socks and Vibrant Colours!

I have been on a bit of a non stock stock knitting phase! After not making any for a while I have gone abit mad with my sock knitting.  I finished my son's rainbow socks which he loves!!

Then my Mum asked me to knit my Auntie some socks for her birthday and luckily I had some stripy socks on the needles from last xmas and my Mum loved the yarn.  So these ones were for my Auntie's birthday which is this friday and I am sure she will love wearing them as she has never had hand knitted socks before. This gorgeous yarn was from Wharfedale Woolworks Etsy Shop

I have now also cast on ... yes wait for it!! another pair of socks.  I have lots of sock yarn in my stash so thought I would use up some more yarn.  Here is the progress so far including my lovely nicsknots project bag which is my favourite sock knitting bag to use.

I have also updated my Peggy's Yarns Etsy Shop with some lovely new vibrant yarns and 5 of the yarns sold  in a couple of days which is great! Please take a look and a big thank you to all my customers so far for your support.  Here are some of the vibrant colours I have been stocking

Lots more colours to come later on this week with another shop update and lots more knitting.  I have been spinning on my drop spindle too any help or advice with spinning would be lovely.  Thank you to Kaz for agreeing to be moderator in the Peggy's Yarns group on ravelry we are holding a KAL soon so please join the group Peggy's Yarns Ravelry Group

Welcome

Welcome to Peggy's Yarns blog.  I have been knitting for a number of years and some of you may know me from Peggy's Collection. My late grandmother was called Peggy and she is the reason I have a love of knitting. I have recently decided to start hand dyeing some yarns and fibre and open up a etsy shop.  I plan on starting my own website for the yarns too and I am going to be stocking some other yarn manufacturers and independent dyers too.

I am also going to feature other knitters on the blog, reviews of books and other yarns too. I would love to start a podcast about my knitting adventures too so any feedback if any of you would like to hear that would be great! I will also feature on here what I have on the needles at the moment and projects for the future.

I have had a great response since I have been listing the yarns and I have sold lots already so a BIG thank you to everyone that has bought off me so far your support has been fabulous.

Here are some of the yarns that I have sold and have listed at the moment in my shop

Peach Sock Yarn -SOLD
Tutti Fruiti sock yarn
Mint Green 70% Organic Merino / silk sock yarn
Citrus Delight 100% wool 4ply
Aqua Blue Shetland/Angora 4ply
Moss Green 100% BFL wool 4ply - RESERVED
Pastel Pink Sock Yarn - SOLD

If you would like to look at any of the yarns I have for sale my etsy shop can be found here Peggy's Yarns Etsy Shop

The current project I am working on at the moment is a pair of socks for my 6 year old son.  He saw the yarn which is a regia one, and squealed 'Rainbows' as he loves rainbows so I told him I would make him a pair of socks.  I have made lots of socks before but never child size ones.  I have finished one sock and about half way with the other

I have definitely got my sock knitting mojo back as I have another adult size pair on the needles with self striping sock yarn from WharfedaleWoolworks which I bought last christmas.  The yarn is a dream to work with and I havent decided which lucky person will be gifted these yet.

Seeing as though I have been making so many socks I would love for any of you to recommend some sock knitting patterns for me.  Just leave a comment and I will take a look.

I will try and update this blog as regular as possible as I have some more fabulous yarns to add soon and lots more knitting projects.
